Capcom is getting ready to roll out the latest piece of DLC for Monster Hunter Rise — a collaboration with Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog. Announced earlier in November 2021, the Monster Hunter Rise Sonic DLC now has a firm release date of November 26, 2021, as well as a preview trailer. The trailer was posted to the game’s official Twitter account.

The Monster Hunter Rise X Sonic the Hedgehog DLC trailer is set to “Escape from the City” by Ted Poley and Tony Harnell. The piece was first heard in 2001’s Sonic Adventure 2 on the Dreamcast. The trailer shows off the new “Sonic Wear” layered armor set for Hunters. The set is a track suit with a jacket and bottoms inspired by Sonic. Leggings and track shoes, as well as a hat shaped like Sonic’s spines completes the ensemble.

Palico companions can don the “Sonic Costume” and look like the Blue Blur himself on hunts. Wearing the Sonic costume makes one’s Palico run using the hedgehog’s familiar stance. The Sonic costume can also absorb the power of the Chaos Emeralds and change into the golden Super Sonic form. When in Super form, the Palico can perform a jumping attack similar to Sonic’s own. The DLC didn’t forget about Canynes either. They can wear a the “Canyne Tails” outfit, consisting of a jacket, shorts, and headdress. Together the pieces make the Canyne look practically vulpine, specifically one Miles “Tails” Prower, a constant companion to Sonic.

The Monster Hunter Rise x Sonic the Hedgehog collaboration DLC will release on November 26, 2021. The game itself is immediately available on Nintendo Switch. The DLC will also be immediately available in the game when it launches for PC on January 12, 2022. The Sunbreak expansion for both editions will launch in Summer 2022.
