Square Enix opened applications for the “prototype test” (closed beta) for upcoming action RPG mobile title Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link. Only around 1,000 will be chosen for this small-scale testing period, which will specifically explore online functions. Applications are open between December 19-23, 2022, with the test scheduled for January 13, 2023.
Square Enix opted for a small-scale prototype test, rather than a standard, localized closed beta test typically seen ahead of global mobile releases. This comes with further restrictions, including being exclusive to iOS users in Japan. The signup page also notes that tablet functionality is not guaranteed during the test. Despite these restrictions, the full game will be released on both Android and iOS.
Square Enix also released a new piece of artwork on the prototype signup page. The art style uses an uncharacteristic gothic theme, with characters dressed in baroque Victorian clothing amid a dense, foggy city.

Square Enix announced the game during the Kingdom Hearts 20th anniversary event in April 2022. At the beginning of December 2022, Tetsuya Nomura promised more details about a Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link closed beta “Prototype Test.”
Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link is headed to Android and Apple iOS devices, and there is as-yet no official release date for Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link. The Prototype Test will run January 13-18, 2023.
