Bungie isn’t “rushing out a fix” for Destiny 2’s 12-player raid glitch

Destiny 2 players recently found a way to load into endgame activities with far more players than originally intended. Bungie has now said that it won’t be rushing out a fix urgently, even going so far as to encourage Guardians to “try it out and have some fun” before it is eventually patched out.
The latest This Week at Bungie post explains the team’s relaxed stance on the matter, with community manager Cozmo telling players that “it’s totally fine if you want to try it out and have some fun.” Naturally, squeezing twice as many players as intended into an activity (or even more, in the case of three-player content) is going to create some… interesting situations and issues, so Bungie is keen to temper expectations for when things don’t work as they should. “We’ve been watching the 12-player raid hype and are glad you’re enjoying yourselves,” Cozmo’s post continues. “Just keep in mind that we didn’t create these activities expecting a clown car of Guardians to roll up, so you may experience some weirdness.”

The glitch involves one fireteam of seven players joining another of five (with very specific timing) as they load into an activity, and the community has been having a blast breaking the game lately. It’s great to see Bungie embrace the chaos rather than call the Fun Police, although there isn’t all that long left if you do still plan on sampling this madness for yourself. Bungie plans to implement a fix in time for the Grandmaster Nightfall Strikes that drop next week (unsurprising, as this glitch would utterly trivialise the new endgame activity), so you’ve likely got until reset on March 16th if you want to try this out.

Bungie’s previous TWAB update shared the unfortunate news that the next major Destiny 2 update, The Witch Queen, had been pushed back to early 2022, although it did also confirm that fan-favourite Destiny raid Vault of Glass is still on course to arrive in Destiny 2 next season. A new Master difficulty is planned for VoG later this year as well.

Any fun tales to share from breaking Destiny 2 in this fun new way, or maybe just keen to run VoG again and relive the Good Old Days? Let us know below…
